Nice to meet you! (Unless we've met before. This could get awkward.) Poke around the site for video, podcasts, mp3s - or heck! even read something! - and then say hi using my "Contact Megan" page.

Santa Fe is my favorite Fe of all the Fe’s

Let’s hear it for the Bread Loaf School of English in Santa Fe, New Mexico! (Pause for cheering.) The good people at Bread Loaf brought me down to do my solo show, Hillary Clinton Got Me Pregnant.  It was the first time I’d ever done the show outside, and it was gorgeous.  The sun was [...]

WHYY in Philadelphia gives the issue a fair shake

The Philadelphia NPR affiliate did a lovely piece outlining the basic facts of child sexual abuse and talking about my musical Love Jerry. The journalist pronounces my name incorrectly, but since she doesn’t wrongly accuse me of apologizing for pedophiles like the Philadelphia Inquirer did, I’ll overlook it. Take a listen: http://whyy.org/cms/news/health-science/behavioral-health-health-science/2010/06/16/play-tackles-child-sexual-abuse/40002

Some positive reviews for LOVE JERRY in Philadelphia

The Philadelphia Inquirer is all gloom and doom about Nice People Theatre Company‘s production of Love Jerry.  But other people have said some really lovely things about the production. Howard Gensler at the Philadelphia Daily News writes in his Tattle column, “The play no more endorses child abuse than ‘Macbeth’ endorses murder.”  Which I’ll take [...]

Boy, the Philly Inquirer sure hates this play

My, my, my.  Where to begin? So, the reviews are in for Nice People Theatre Company‘s production of my musical Love Jerry, and the results are…passionate. The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Wendy Rosenfield reviewed the play on opening night, and also attended the post-show talkback.  I’m hesitant to link to the review because, in addition to giving [...]

The ad that’s too hot for the Philly Inquirer

You may be saying to yourselves, “The whole world stinks right now.  The economy, the oil spill, Al and Tipper Gore splitting up – I feel so helpless!”  And you’re half right.  The world does stink a little bit.  But here’s a chance to flip the script on the whole “helpless” thing and all you [...]

LOVE JERRY in Philadelphia!

Here’s the postcard for Nice People Theatre Company‘s production of my musical Love Jerry that goes up in Philadelphia in June. Let’s just take a minute and talk about the simple and arresting image they’re using to market the play. Let’s take a second minute and praise the actor who’s got the courage to be [...]

AJC: HILLARY CLINTON = Top Ten Shows of 2009

Well, here’s some delightful and surprising news. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution named my solo show, HILLARY CLINTON GOT ME PREGNANT, one of the top 10 shows of 2009.  I’m flattered!  Merry Christmas to me! Check it out for yourself: http://blogs.ajc.com/arts-culture/2009/12/23/top-10-plays-of-2009/

ATL: I blather on in an interview with Creative Loafing

Here’s an interview with me in Atlanta’s free weekly paper, Creative Loafing.  I’m mostly talking about Hillary Clinton Got Me Pregnant, but I also talk a bit about Love Jerry and my Buffy tribute album. If you like the yammer, you’ll love this interview! http://blogs.creativeloafing.com/culturesurfing/2009/10/31/speakeasy-with-megan-gogerty/

Atlanta: Fingertips at Dad’s Garage!

Atlanta’s Dad’s Garage is doing an evening of short pieces inspired by They Might Be Giants opus, “Fingertips.”  Below is a trailer for the show, which is as cool as Dad’s Garage.  My segment is number 19 from the 21-segmented song, also known as “I’m Having A Heart Attack.”  If you’re in Atlanta, come see [...]

Podcast: Changing my name

I’m thinking of changing my name. There’s been a lot of talk in recent years about women playwrights. Somebody did a study a while back and discovered that even though women make up half the graduates of playwriting programs across the country, only something like ten percent of new play productions are going to women playwrights. Or something like that – I can’t remember the exact numbers, probably because I’m a girl and girls are stupid.
