I was totally cranky about the casting on Glee, but now I have forgiven them.  They’ve done a bang-up job in playing up Rachel’s shortness, bossiness, and supposedly big nose.   She’s still too pretty for the role, but then, isn’t everybody on TV?

But beside feeling likes it’s a warmed-over Election rip-off, I struggle with the casting.  Rachel, the Tracy Flick character, is all wrong.  She’s much too conventionally pretty to be bought as a social misfit.  At least Reese Witherspoon had that pointy chin she could play up.  This Glee ingenue, however, is all perfectly plucked eyebrows and flowing hair.  We need less Rachel McAdams and more Rachel Dratch.

But I’ll try to keep a lid on my carping, lest they replace it with Hot Chicks M.D. Esq.
